MJ Sorenson

MJ currently specializes in garnering global media attention for clients and their programs, especially among the television industry press. She also advises on event marketing strategy and communications.

In 2011, MJ launched MJ Global Communications LLC to serve the global entertainment community with communications and marketing strategy and implementation. Clients include: Star China Media, Zee TV India, Mongol TV, Bomanbridge Media Singapore, GRB Ent., MasterPeace Egypt, among others. Highlights: launched successful press campaigns for: new Star China Format Sing My Song as well as Bomanbridge Singapore’s Haute & Saucy; placed 2 executives onThe Hollywood Reporters’ Most Powerful Women in Media list;secured hundreds of articles and profiles in top global trades such asThe New York Times, The LA Times, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, World Screen News, C21 Media, Prensario, etc.

MJ began her marketing career at MTV Networks, growing the brand internationally and helping to launch MTV Europe. Over 10 years she held management positions in marketing, promotions and programming.

As head of Marketing & Communications at the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, producer of the prestigious International Emmy Awards, MJ was responsible for all communications strategy. Responsibilities included producing press campaigns; Emmy judging events in Singapore, Jordan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Germany, and more; editor and a writer for the International Emmy Almanac.

Marketing responsibilities included successfully securing sponsorships with global broadcasters and major brands such as NBC International, BBC, Phoenix Satellite China, ABC, MGM Latin America, Venevision, TGRT Turkey, KBS, Microsoft, and Hewlett Packard. She also extended the brand through strategic partnerships with Air France, MIPTV/MIPCOM, Sofitel Hotels, CASBAA Hong Kong, FRAMES India, and 20 other global organizations.

MJ’s positions as Executive Director of Client Services & Partnerships and Executive Director of North American Sales for Reed MIDEM, allowed her to work closely with clients such as NBC, CBS, Lionsgate, eOne Entertainment, GK-tv, Discovery Networks, A+E Networks, Scripps, among others. She coordinated the successful world MIPCOM premiere of GK-tv’s “Camelot” attended by Joseph Fiennes, Ava Green and Jamie Campbell as well as Fox’s 20th Anniversary of “The Simpsons” with Matt Groening.

MJ served as Vice President of Communications on the Board of New York Women In Film & Television from 2002-2004 and has been a member for over 10 years. She also served as an adviser for the launch of FRAMES India. She is a consultant with The Format People.
